Historical Football Kits

The Football League 1946 - 1947

football league logo 1888The Football League restarted for the 1946-1947 season after a seven year break due to the Second World War. Most essential items for day-to-day living were rationed, including clothing. Football clubs were not exempt and had to collect coupons to buy new kits: a few clubs had to turn out in unfamiliar strips as a result of the shortages. The Forties and early Fifties were a boom period, with huge crowds turning out to watch matches at every level.
