Brechin arrive in the Championship by virtue of a dramatic win over Alloa in the play-offs that went to penalties. The first strip is unchanged aside from a new sponsor while the change strip, in Pendle's latest template, is new.

Dumbarton have retained last season's change strip and updated their first choice. This is once again all-white with a gold and black chest band and now the shirt has additional horizontal stripes made up from fine diagonal lines.

The simplest possible black outfit has been adopted for the Terrors' alternative. The Vapor template serves for the new first choice complete with dirty brown sleeves.

It's 50 years since the Pars won the Scottish Cup and to celebrate Joma have been commissioned to produce a replica of the classic candy-stripe shirts worn at the time, a reminder of the elegantly clean designs of that era. The change kit features the script logo that appeared in the late 70s. The traditional crest had been dropped in 1964 and did not reappear until 1986.

Falkirk reached the play-offs but must languish in the Championship for another season. The trim on the all-navy first kit is silver but I for one would prefer to see them in white shorts.

Morton have worn tartan in the past and now they have a red version - the 'Ton Tartan no doubt - designed by Peter Fleming who won the competition organised by the club. I had thought this was a first but David Watson tells me the team had a red change top in the Royal Stewart tartan in 1994-95.

The first strip is unchanged.

ICT finished bottom and suffered relegation from the Premiership. As usual, there is a novel twist to their first kit, on this occasion a single white stripe on the shirt as well as a fade effect on the red stripes. I suspect that the checkered flag alternative is from the creative section of Errea's catalogue.

Designer: FBT

Sponsor: Tony Macaroni

Livingston won the League One championship last season so it's hardly surprising that they have elected to stay with the all-black strip they adopted at the start of that campaign. Now provided by FBT rather than Joma, the alternative is identical but with the colours reversed.

Third

Designer: Macron

Sponsor: JB Houston Butchers

Queen of the South have reverted to all-blue with white trimmings. There is a nice detail on the shirt where the name of the club is embossed into the fabric surrounding the crest. The alternative is grey with bright yellow accents. This was not considered suitable for the game at Falkirk so white shirts were acquired.

After last season's predominantly white strip new technical sponsor Joma have provided a more traditional first set. There are some novel side panels on the torso just to keep things interesting. If we pretend not to have seen the change strip perhaps it will go away. The third strip marks the Saints' 140th anniversary but I have no idea why it's all-black.
